Due to Super Bowl Sunday, game times have been changed for Sunday, February 5th. Rather than games starting at 1:00 pm and running on 75-minute intervals, games will begin at 12:30 pm and run on 70-minute intervals. Visit our Game Schedule page to view updated VDBL Game Schedules.

Due to inclement weather (evening precipitation and the forecast of borderline freezing temperatures throughout the day), Albemarle County school authorities have closed down their facilities for Saturday, January 21, 2012. Therefore, all JBL (grades 1 - 4) games for Saturday, January 21 have been CANCELED. All VDBL (grades 5 - 8) games scheduled for Sunday, January 22 are still on as scheduled unless otherwise noted. Please continue to check back to our website for updates.

The Junior Basketball League (for grades 1 - 2, 3 - 4) will be holding its Evaluation Dates on Fridays in October. These dates are designed to allow our VABA staff to assess each young athlete signed up for this season, and evaluate their skill level, athleticism and other important intagibles. Fall Skills Academies have begun (on Sunday afternoons), and Junior League sign-ups continue! This fall the VDBL will be holding its annual basketball tryouts. Over the past three years this league has become the most popular youth boys basketball league in the greater Charlottesville area with boys in grades 5 - 8 from all public and private schools in the greater Charlottesville-Albemarle area (including teams from Greene County to Fluvanna) trying out each September. On Sunday, March 13, VABA held its third annual VDBL Championships at John Paul Jones Arena. This was a wonderful occasion where all four divisions of the VDBL Boys league held the final game between the two remaining teams left in the Championship Tournament.
