Central Virginia High School Basketball Honors Banquet

May 2, 2010

Charlottesville, Virginia, United States

Description
The Central Virginia Basketball Honors Banquet, sponsored by the VABA Foundation and Scrimmage Play magazine, is a semi-formal affair that began in 2008 to honor area basketball student-athletes from 19 area high schools for character and academic achievement. These are our “unsung heroes.” These are the young people that may or may not have received the attention and the accolades during the past season, but we want to celebrate who they are and what they have accomplished off the court. Furthermore, the Virginia Basketball Academy takes this opportunity to communicate its pledge to the community to use the sport of basketball to further its mission "to build character and shape lives through the game of basketball." Noteworthy speakers come to talk about character in sports and share their experiences and the ways in which athletics has made an impact on their lives.

All proceeds earned from the CVA Honors Banquet will go directly into covering the costs of this event. This is not a fundraiser - this is simply a special night to honor our most exemplary young citizens for their contributions to our community and encourage them in their future pursuits. This is also a time to pay tribute to those adults (coaches and parents) who have worked so hard in shaping such accomplished student-athletes. Furthermore, each year this event serves to bring together our high school student-athletes, their parents and coaches as well as those in the community who already support the VABA Foundation.
