Born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, Aaron Sandridge developed a deep connection to basketball and community from an early age. His passion for the game began at eight years old and grew into a lifelong commitment to basketball and leadership. A graduate of Charlottesville High School in 2013, where he excelled both on and off the court, Aaron continued his education at Norfolk State University and Piedmont Virginia Community College, balancing academics and athletics.
Aaron’s coaching journey began in 2013 with the Virginia Basketball Association (VABA), where he cultivated skills in player development, motivation, and mentorship. In 2018, he founded ThatsToughHoops, an AAU program focused on preparing athletes for success both on and off the court. The program's impact was exemplified by standout players like John St. Germain, who went on to play for Augusta State University.
In 2021, Aaron’s coaching career expanded to Dallas, Texas, where he joined the Tyrese Maxey AAU program and trained athletes across North Texas. He also coached at Legacy Christian Academy, a 6A private school in Frisco, TX, serving as a varsity assistant coach and leading 7th and 8th-grade teams. During this time, he interned with Tim Martin Basketball, training elite college and NBA players, including Keyonte George, Mike Miles Jr., Jahmi’us Ramsey, and Ashton Hardaway. Additionally, he coached for Made Hoops, participating in All-Star games and the New Balance Circuit.
In July 2024, Aaron returned to Virginia to be closer to his family and rejoined VABA as a Head Evaluator, Trainer, and Supervisor. In this role, he oversees player development, evaluates talent, and mentors both athletes and coaches, fostering a love for the game and preparing players for success on and off the court.
Outside of basketball, Aaron is a devoted husband, father to three children, and a proud dog owner. Balancing family life with his passion for coaching, he strives to lead by example, promoting hard work, resilience, and the belief that success is achievable through dedication and the right mindset.
