Great news for JBL 1st - 2nd grade:
Games Rescheduled for Saturday, February 24
Dear JBL 1-2 Families:
As you well know by now, JBL 1st-2nd grade games were cancelled today due to a poor decision by Albemarle County Schools (to shut down Saturday activities for "inclement weather"). Despite our opposition to this decision, as you know, VABA is 100% at the mercy of the schools we use for these decisions.
As we explained in our prior communication, we had to prioritize the REC League which was scheduled to compete in their REC Championship Tournament. We were compelled to do so, after scrambling to contact many non-County facilities, late into Friday night, exhausting all options for all of our games to be played.
All of this to say, since the moment we made these decisions late Friday night, we have been negotiating with the county for more space next weekend (even though this was not on the schedule). In addition, we have capacity (i.e. "staffing") concerns, with numerous sites and staff needs for JBL 3rd-4th & VDBL tournament games.
Regardless, despite our original expectation to NOT make-up these games, we have worked hard to try and find a way to do so for our JBL 1st-2nd grade games - to reschedule them from Saturday, February 17 to Saturday, February 24. This is a very tall task, so we couldn't promise anything at the time.
AND, WE HAVE GREAT NEWS! ALL JBL 1ST-2ND GRADE GAMES ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 17 have been RESCHEDULED for SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24. However, there will be NO PRACTICES FOR JBL 1-2 Teams this week.
