Maurizio "Rece" D'Alessandro grew up in Charlottesville, VA and was raised in the "VABA Way" since birth.  As the son of Ben D'Alessandro, Rece tagged along his father, observing and participating in most of the VABA programs as the Virginia Basketball Academy was in its early stages.  Both in their infant stages, Rece and VABA grew together, and over the years, Rece developed in his love, knowledge and experience playing and coaching the great game of basketball. 

As a young VABA student-athlete, Rece participated in Summer Camps as a player, as well as competing for championships in VABA's famed VDBL ("Virginia Developmental Basketball League") earning two league championships with the "Warriors." (2014, 2016).  Rece also played with the 2017 VABA Bruins team which qualified for the AAU Nationals in Memphis, placing 12th nationally.

In 2016, Rece earned "All-Star Game" MVP at the famous "Hoop Group Elite" as an 8th grader.  

Rece attended Fork Union Military Academy as a freshman in high school, and by his sophomore year he had earned 1st-team Virginia All-Prep League as well as serving as team captain.

In the 2022-23 season, Rece, as a member of Fork Union's Post-grad National team, led his team to a 19-14 season as the starting point guard in the "Elite Prep League," one of the most prestigious and competitive post-grad/prep basketball leagues in the country.

Rece has been conducting individual and small group training sessions, focusing on individual skill offensive fundamental development since 2019.  He is a knowledgeable, relatable, passionate and talented teacher, trainer, coach and mentor.  VABA has been blessed to have had Rece grow up in "The VABA Way" and now continue to give back by espousing and upholding its principles as a valued and integral part of its team.
